Stopping hormonal birth control may lead to a slight increase in blood pressure, or it may have no effect at all. If your blood pressure is uncontrolled (at or over 160/100), then it's best to stick to nonhormonal options regardless of age. However, the hormonal IUD, implant, and progestin-only birth control pills could be used with caution.
