Objawy Wysokiego Ciśnienia Krwi
What is high blood pressure? High blood pressure, also known as hypertension, is blood pressure that is higher than normal. Blood pressure varies throughout the day depending on activities. If blood pressure is consistently above normal, it may be diagnosed as high blood pressure (or hypertension). The higher the blood pressure level, the higher the risk of other health problems, such as heart disease, heart attack and stroke. The healthcare team can diagnose high blood pressure and make treatment decisions by checking systolic and diastolic blood pressure levels and comparing them to levels set by certain guidelines. The guidelines used to diagnose high blood pressure may vary from one health care professional to another: Some health care professionals diagnose patients with high blood pressure if their blood pressure is consistently 140/90 mm Hg or higher. This limit is based on guidelines issued in 2003, as seen in the table below. Other health professionals diagnose patients with high blood pressure if their blood pressure is consistently 130/80 mm Hg or higher. What are the signs and symptoms of high blood pressure?
  • Severe headaches
  • Nose bleeding
  • Fatigue or confusion.
  • Problems with vision.
  • Pain in the chest
  • Breathing difficulties
  • Unregular heartbeat
  • Blood in the urine
When should you go to the doctor? You are likely to have your blood pressure measured as part of a routine doctor's visit. Starting at age 18, you should ask your doctor to measure your blood pressure at least once every two years. If you are 40 years old or older, or between the ages of 18 and 39 with a high risk of high blood pressure, ask your doctor to read your blood pressure every year. Blood pressure should be checked in both arms to see if there is a difference. It is important to use a cuff of the correct size. Your doctor will recommend more frequent checks if you have been diagnosed with hypertension or have other risk factors for cardiovascular disease. Children ages 3 and older usually have their blood pressure measured as part of their annual check-ups.   [cool_tag_cloud on_single_display="local"]
